VST instrument plugins produce new audio that mimics the sound of real instruments such as a guitar or piano, while VST effect plugins modify existing audio to create unique sounds instead of creating new audio. The setting I mean is the "MIDI Channel" selection box in the Track Inspector at the mid-right of this picture:Īlternatively, if receiving ALL the channels at the same time, it would be great being able to route which MIDI channel goes to which Reason instrument, which is something currently lacking in Reason, unless there's some option I'm not aware of.Īlternatively, if receiving ALL the channels at the same time, it would be great being able to route which MIDI channel goes to which Reason instrument, which is something currently lacking in Reason, unless there's some option I'm not aware of.Reason Rack Plugin doesn't support MIDI out, nor is it a multitimbral midi instrument at this point. There are two main categories of free VST plugins: instruments and effects. So I think it would be best if this was changed it so it respected the setting. Any other plug-in I've ever used in Logic obeys this setting. I think Reason Rack not obeying what MIDI channel is selected in Logic is a "bug", as in not expected behaviour. Even if I set a non-used channel such as 6 or higher, it still gets MIDI data from all channels. And it does this no matter what channel I set in Logic. Well, I've been testing the Reason Rack AU and it has an issue: It always gets ALL of the MIDI tracks sent by the MIDI instrument and plays all of them through the first instrument in the Reason Rack. It might be considered a basic functionality, but I still have a lot to learn about Reason! Thanks for the Combinator tip! It worked for me.
